FAQ's

1. How thick should I lay my mulch?
When adding mulch to existing garden beds, ideal thickness is around 2inches (5cm). This will allow plenty of water through to the soil and at the same time help keep the moisture in for longer periods of time. It will also help to supress weeds.
2. Can put mulch right up to the trunk of a plant?
We recommend keeping mulch away from the stem/trunk of any plant. It can cause a common problem called Collar Rot. Ideally, spread your mulch so that it is just under the drip line (circumference of the foliage) of the plant.
3. When should I fertilize my plants?
Liquid Feeding can be done all year round. Pellet feeding is better done when the plants root system is more active. Here on the Gold Coast, that can mean any time between August/September through to March. Pellet feeding can be done more than once during this time, but be sure to ask one of our qualified Horticulturists first, if you are unsure as to what plants you can do this with!
4. I have a insect/disease problem on some of my plants, what should I do?
There are a couple of ways of going about this. First, you could take some pictures and email them through to us at support@ashmoregardenworld.com . Second, you could bring a cutting of the affected plant in a sealed container to the Nursery for one of our staff members to identify.
